Community Ambassador

Picture
A single person can become the catalyst necessary to change everything, an Ambassador that can connect their neighbors and show the clear benefits to everyone. One person who is willing to reach out and have the conversations that will make everyone's life better.
It all starts with saying hello, learning a name, listening and developing an understanding of what matters to someone else, whether you agree with them or not. Somewhere under the cares of politics, work, bills, religion, is a common thread, often of fear, that everyone shares. Letting someone tell their story does several things, it helps you to see that common thread, it is a gift to them of being heard, and it makes a connection of trust on which to build.

Can anyone do this? Yes, but some unlearning and training helps the process along. For more on that go to the workshops page.
How can we help? Resilient Ecosystems and Gather Together, Grow Together have hosted BBQ's throughout the Summer of 2022 for various communities in Kitsap County with good success. However we cannot provide these resources out of the county, or all of the time. We can provide the Community Ambassador with the tools to find sponsors, materials to inform, and talking points to develop conversations that can bring your community together. If you are local to Kitsap and the Puget Sound region we can help you find resources to train your neighborhood in first aid, preparedness, and connecting to best support each other in times of crisis.

Breaking Bread

It starts with the most ancient human tradition for connecting... Breaking Bread together!
Sharing food creates the space for conversation, sharing ideas, and developing a deeper understanding of each other. It does not happen all at once, but over many meals, but as Lao Tzu says: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
