Hear Ye Hear Ye! Come one Come All!
Bring Your Bowl to the Cauldron!
Stone Soup is the story of three soldiers being separated from their army during the Napoleonic years. They came upon a small village hungry and exhausted and knocked on doors seeking some food. The villagers told them there was nothing since the armies had taken everything they had, but they did so from behind closed and locked doors. Finally one of the soldiers proclaimed loudly that if someone could provide them with a large cauldron and some wood he would make everyone an amazing soup made from a single river stone. He regaled how great this soup was and how it fed his entire village when he was young.
Curious, a villager brought them a large cauldron and a stack of wood. Two of the soldiers went to the river and filled the pot with water, while the third sought the perfect stone, making a show of it. They put the pot in place over the fire and the stone was placed in the bottom... they waited.
The villager asked when the soup would be done, to this the soldier replied that it takes time for the stone to provide it's magic... the water began to boil. One by one the villagers came into the square to see this magic soup.
The soldier began to fuss and stir with glee, muttering yes, yes, yes!
Not long now he said as the water boiled rapidly...
The villagers gathered with growing excitement, wondering what they would see and taste.
At the peak of their excitement the soldier said that it was always better with some carrots...
A villager ran off and got a small bunch of carrots which the soldier cut and added to the pot...
The scent made everyone's stomach growl...
You know the soldier said, I remember garlic and some potatoes being a wonderful addition...
Villagers ran and brought some...
You know the soldier said, we need some beef bone and some onions for greatness... villagers ran...
Now the soup was smelling amazing, mouths were watering...
You know the soldier said, perfection would require some salt and pepper, a cabbage, a little flour, and a little wine... off the villagers ran...
After the soup cooked for a bit more the soldier announced that it was ready and that everyone should bring their bowls and spoons, and everyone ate!
After everyone was full they discovered that there was enough soup to feed them all for a week.
The moral of this story is that if everyone gives a little everyone thrives!

In 2018 Resilient Ecosystems (RESECO) hosted Stone Soup as a fund raiser and it was amazing.
But as life does, things change.
RESECO was having growing pains and finding it's way, then COVID happened, and then Post COVID and the tendency of isolation took hold.

Welcome to 2024
RESECO, will make Stone Soup an annual event, not as a fund raiser, but as a community connection event!
The price of admission is an ingredient for the soups, meat and vegetarian, and you need to bring bowls and spoons for your group, family etc...
We will have tables with information on the projects we are doing: food (community gardens and food forests), Power (local generation), shelter, water, transportation, communication, preparedness, and more.
We will be announcing the winners of the Community Champion awards for 2024!
We will be presenting The Kitsap Resiliency Project and the Resilient Communities Movement, and explain why Resilient Communities Thrive!
We will ask for donations to Patreon to support the work, what you spend for coffee in a month, but will not be pushing it.
We may even have an announcement or two as a surprise!
We have been very busy in 2023, come find out what we have been up to!
*Stone Soup is a Community Connection Event, no longer a fund raiser, presentation and information tables are for community knowledge only!
